TULSA, OK - Tulsa's Comedy Troupe - The Comedy Clinic, resumes its 2004 season
on May 8th, at Tulsa's finest Martini Lounge and Champagne Bar, The Suede,
3340 S. Peoria Ave. as they perform their all new show "Spring Forward, Laugh
Back" Showtime is 7:30.
These Medics of Madness will showcase decades of theater and comedy experience
in their live show, which has been described as Saturday Night Live meets
Whose Line is it Anyway. Their hilarious ORIGINAL sketches will be followed by
their hysterical improv games, which include audience
participation. The Comedy Clinic gives fans a local flavor in their sketch
comedy, the likes of which won't be seen on television or anywhere else in
Tulsa!
This gang of Comedy Doctors - playing in their second consecutive season at
The Suede - is no strangers to the comedy and entertainment scene in Green
Country. The Comedy Clinic will star local improv veterans and Clinic
co-founders Ben Beckham, Maria Swindell, Jeff Turner and
Antoine Wilson. Beckham, the Clinic director, has 17 years of improv, writing
and directing experience in the Tulsa area. He co-founded two other local
comedy troupes before establishing the Comedy Clinic in 2002 with Swindell and
Turner and has collaborated with cast mates for a combined 24 years.
The Clinic has performed all over Green Country including Bartlesville where
they are scheduled for three more appearances this year. May 8th will mark
their 12th showing at Brookside?s fashionable Suede Lounge. These laugh hacks
have also performed private parties for local companies, area churches and
even political functions. But when it comes to their show, Brookside is their
home.
"I can't think of a better place to be than Brookside," said Clinic co-founder
Ben Beckham. "And who wouldn't want to be at the Suede on a weekend? It's an
incredible night spot for us and people looking for fun in Tulsa. "Turner feels
like he is at home at the Suede. "I grew up in this part of town, so it seems
only right that I get to have fun like this in what I feel like is my own back
yard."
Speaking of home, Swindell, an original member of the Clinic staff, has really
enjoyed the return to her home town, Bartlesville. "If you would have told me
ten years ago that I would get to perform on Brookside and in my hometown
(Bartlesville) throughout the year, I would have told you you?re nuts."
Maybe that is not too far from the truth, because according to Wilson, the
entire crew is already nuts. "Jeff and Ben were almost this crazy in high
school. Then, I met Maria and she's crazy, too!" Wilson said. "I'm just glad
they think I'm crazy enough to be a part of it all."
