Laughter will be heard uptown from downtown this year as Tulsa’s Comedy Troupe – The Comedy Clinic brings its hysterical brand of humor to The Continental, 421 E 1st St., for their 6th season. The 2007-2008 premier will be Saturday, September 15th at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7:00pm.

“I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have a new home at The Continental, “ said Clinic co-founder and 17 year local improv veteran Ben Beckham. “I am as excited as my medication allows!”

According to co-founder Jeff Turner, who met Beckham at Tulsa’s Edison High School in 1986, The move to 1st street could not have been a better fit.

“If you would have told me a year ago we would have a new home and that new venue would have the same kind of great places for food and fun around it as our last home, I would have called you crazy.”

Continental General manager Aaron Post says the Clinic is not alone in their enthusiasm.

“This is a unique opportunity for both The Continental and the Comedy Clinic where the area, the venue and the talent all fit together very well. We can’t wait for the first show,” said Post.

Beckham and Turner are joined by charter Clinic member Maria Swindell and all have been showcasing decades of theater and comedy experience in their live show, which has been described as Saturday Night Live meets Whose Line is it Anyway? The Comedy Clinic has been known for their hilarious ORIGINAL sketches but plan on a full season of hysterical improv games, which include audience participation.

As the lone female of the group, Swindell says it’s not so bad being the only “chick” on stage. “It’s not as if Jeff won’t wear a skirt if you ask him to,” claims Swindell.
