On November 9th, 2002, four local comedians took the stage at 3340 S. Peoria for the first time as Tulsa's Comedy Troupe – The Comedy Clinic, bringing a fresh new style to the city's improv and sketch comedy scene. Since that day, Brookside's Physicians of Fun, as they have been called, have performed in nearly 100 shows from Drumright to Bartlesville to Brookside to Blue Dome, generating laughter from thousands of fans.

It's been almost two years since their last performance at this particular Brookside hot spot (now known as Jewel), but on September 20th, 2008, The Comedy Clinic goes "Back To Brookside" for their season seven premier. Showtime is 8:00pm, doors open at 7:30pm.

Returning will be three charter members Ben Beckham, Maria Gus and Jeff Turner, plus a special guest and TCC alum, Antoine Wilson, a member from seasons two through five. These Medics of Madness are locally grown comedians whose show has been described a Tulsa's version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway" and now it returns to the spot where it all began.

"We've been fortunate to play at some great places in Tulsa in seven years," said Turner of their venues - the last two years which had been downtown - but added there was something special about getting back to their roots. "It's like going home."

Beckham was quick to point out that no one actually lives on Brookside and that Turner was being "a sappy momma's boy". Later a more straight faced Beckham said, "Brookside has been the place to be for 50 years and we have been lucky to be a part of it in past and even luckier to be a part of it again. Jewel is great and so are their people. We're excited to go back."

Over the years, The Comedy Clinic's format has changed from sketch and improv to all improv comedy, but their popularity and originality has remained, which is one of the many reasons for their return to Brookside.

Gus, who last performed in this spot as Maria Swindell, before getting married, and the lone female on the TCC stage, sums up the return pretty simply, "If a joke is told in the woods, but there is no one there to hear it, is there laughter?"

While no one really knows the answer, or actually what that really means, one thing is for sure, people will be at Jewel and there will be laughter because The Comedy Clinic will be back.

Tickets at the door are $10. Advance tickets are $9 and available for purchase online with Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover and must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 19th, 2008.
